Kuwaiti city: The United Arab Emirates and Qatar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their collaboration in the fields of labour and human resources development. This agreement was formalized on the sidelines of the 11th Meeting of the Committee of Labour Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, held in Kuwaiti City.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, the UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, the Minister of Labour of Qatar. The agreement underscores the commitment of the two countries to enhance cooperation and coordination in areas of mutual interest.
The MoU is in line with the decisions and recommendations of the GCC Labour Ministers Committee meetings. It establishes a framework for improved cooperation, expertise exchange, joint initiatives, and coordination in labour-related fields. The agreement also aims to foster the exchange of expertise among GCC countries.
The objectives of the MoU include developing better methods for jobseeker registration and employment, advancing training projects, and rehabilitating national workforces and human resources. It also seeks to strengthen the Abu Dhabi and Doha Dialogues by enhancing regional and international cooperation in managing migrant labour transitions within work migration corridors connecting Asia, Africa, and GCC countries.
Special committees will be formed to launch joint initiatives, exchange experts for technical advice, and share leading experiences. The agreement also includes exchanging information and statistical indicators related to the labour market, as well as scientific publications, recent legislation, and knowledge transfer.
Both countries will expand their participation in international seminars and conferences organized by each party in the fields of cooperation.
