Cairo: The UAE took the lead in presiding over the 164th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs. The session was convened at the General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo, with the participation of notable figures including Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE was represented by Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, who chaired the session. The Council's agenda included a discussion on the Secretary-General's report detailing the activities of the General Secretariat. This report also covered the implementation of the Council's decisions made between the 163rd and 164th sessions, alongside a semi-annual report from the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of Decisions and Commitments.
The session also involved a review of several Arab and regional issues listed on its agenda, reflecting the ongoing concerns and developments within the region.
