UAE Civil Aviation Day Celebrates Nation’s Continued Leadership in Global Aviation

Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates observes 'UAE Civil Aviation Day', celebrating the notable achievements of its national aviation sector, which plays a pivotal role in the global aviation industry. This year's event marks a significant milestone with the UAE's seventh consecutive election to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), underscoring the country's influential role in shaping international civil aviation policies.

According to Emirates News Agency, the first eight months of 2025 saw UAE airports welcome approximately 102.9 million passengers, reflecting a 5.3 percent growth over the 97.9 million passengers during the same period in 2024. This statistic highlights the sector's sustained growth and competitiveness.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) and Chairman of Dubai Airports, emphasized the ongoing expansion and world-class services offered by UAE airports. He noted that the operations at Dubai International and Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International typify the strength of the UAE's aviation system and its readiness for future growth.

Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the GCAA Board, expressed that the UAE's re-election to the ICAO Council signifies international acknowledgment of the nation's leadership and commitment to safety, sustainability, and innovation in aviation.

Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport - Abu Dhabi, remarked on Abu Dhabi International Airport's world-class travel experience, further supported by ongoing development projects, which reflect the commitment to sustainable growth in aviation.

Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation, Sharjah, highlighted the UAE's position as a key player in the civil aviation sector and reminisced about the historic landing of the first passenger aircraft in Sharjah, marking the beginning of aviation in the Emirates.

Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation-Ras Al Khaimah, pointed out the continuous development projects at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport aimed at enhancing passenger experience and operational capacity.

Mohammed Abdullah Al-Salami, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Fujairah, noted the ongoing infrastructure enhancements at Fujairah International Airport, underlining the Emirate's commitment to operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA, emphasized 2025 as a landmark year for UAE aviation, with the sector demonstrating resilience and growth. He highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and vision in securing a sustainable future for air transport.
