UAE Council for Fatwa Engages at Indonesia Book Fair

Abu Dhabi:The UAE Council for Fatwa took part in the Indonesia International Book Fair 2026, held in Jakarta from September 30 to October 4. The event was an opportunity for the Council to exhibit the UAE's model for institutional fatwa, as well as its publications, initiatives, and digital services.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Council's participation aimed to promote moderate Islamic knowledge and to strengthen cultural and intellectual connections between the UAE and Indonesia. It also emphasized the Council's use of modern technologies to serve both fatwa and society.

At the fair, the Council launched three publications translated into Indonesian, offering readers fatwa content that combines Islamic jurisprudential foundations with insights into contemporary realities. This content was presented in an accessible academic format to engage the Indonesian audience.

The UAE Council's pavilion introduced attendees to the Emirates Global Award for Fatwa Studies and Civilisational Ijtihad, along with digital fatwa services and interactive content designed to make Islamic knowledge more accessible.

In addition, a virtual reality experience was featured, showcasing the 'Al Shawwaf Forum', which highlights the UAE's heritage in moon sighting and the evolution of observation methods, illustrating the use of technology to preserve and present national knowledge.

The programme further included two academic seminars that addressed approaches to contemporary issues, focusing on the integration of Sharia, national, practical, legal, and ethical considerations in the formulation of fatwas.
