UAE Denounces Port Sudan Authority’s Decision

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has declared that it does not recognize the decision made by the Port Sudan Authority, stating that the authority does not represent the legitimate government of Sudan and its people. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized that this statement from the 'Security and Defence Council' will not impact the strong and enduring relations between the UAE and Sudan and their citizens. According to Emirates News Agency, the MoFA clarified that the Port Sudan Authority, which is one of the two conflicting parties in Sudan, decided to sever diplomatic ties with the UAE following the International Court of Justice's dismissal of a case submitted by the authority. The Ministry dismissed the statements from the Port Sudan Authority as attempts to divert attention from peace initiatives. The Ministry reiterated that Sudan deserves a civilian-led government that operates independently of military influence and prioritizes the welfare of the Sudanese people. It criticized an y leadership that harms its population, emphasizing the need for a government that truly represents its citizens. The UAE expressed solidarity with the Sudanese people, especially the Sudanese community in the UAE and visitors from Sudan, assuring them that they will not be affected by recent developments. The UAE reaffirmed its long-standing support for Sudan, promising to continue its assistance and solidarity with the Sudanese people.
