Abu dhabi: Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, announced that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has positioned itself as a soft power shaping the future of the region and the world. He credited this achievement to a policy that balances steadfast principles with strategic resilience in navigating global challenges.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Gargash spoke at a keynote session titled 'The Geopolitical Scene and the UAE's Global Narrative', part of the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2025. The session was attended by H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. He highlighted the UAE's global narrative, based on three main pillars: promoting peace through dialogue and diplomacy, driving sustainable development via economic and tech partnerships, and instilling values of human solidarity, tolerance, and cultural openness.
Dr. Gargash explained that the UAE has built a unique model of soft power, blending economic impact, humanitarian efforts, and cultural and diplomatic presence. This approach has made the UAE a trusted international partner in finding solutions to pressing global challenges. He emphasized that the UAE, guided by its leadership's vision, is working towards greater achievements locally and globally, further establishing its standing and impact.
He noted the current geopolitical shifts, including the recalibration of power centers, changing alliances, and the rise of transnational challenges such as pandemics, climate change, and regional conflicts. Technological advances are also reshaping national structures, sovereign decisions, and governance.
In this context, the UAE stands out with its clear vision, preparedness, adaptability, and influence capacity. Its mission is to leverage global shifts to advance human development, sustain prosperity, and reinforce peace and security. Dr. Gargash underlined that the UAE's foreign policy uses its economy to serve politics, peace, and stability, building balanced relationships with all global powers based on shared interests and mutual respect.
He elaborated on the UAE's role in supporting stability through mediation efforts, humanitarian aid, and development initiatives. The UAE believes true security includes development, education, and empowerment, becoming a key player in the global humanitarian ecosystem. The UAE has provided significant aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, totaling USD 2.57 billion over two years.
Dr. Gargash also cited the UAE's successful mediation between Russia and Ukraine, achieving 17 successful mediations and the exchange of 4,641 captives, as an example of its effective diplomatic efforts.
