Sharjah: The UAE Media Council is set to participate in the 14th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2025), which will be organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau. The event is scheduled to take place on 10-11 September at Expo Centre Sharjah, under the theme 'Communication for Quality of Life'. The forum will feature a comprehensive program spanning 22 interactive platforms.
According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE Media Council's involvement reflects its commitment to media policies that aim to enhance digital quality of life and foster a responsible, values-aligned media environment. During the forum, the Council will present its integrated regulatory framework, which includes clear content standards and an age-classification policy. These are designed to protect national values and identity while enabling positive, practical communication across digital platforms.
A human-centred approach to innovation is a cornerstone of the Council's strategy, aligning with national artificial intelligence (AI) guidelines to ensure that emerging technologies in media are used responsibly and ethically. This approach aims to protect families and preserve cultural values. Mohammed Saeed Al Shehi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, stated that IGCF serves as a leading platform for engaging with local and international partners to share best practices in communication and media. He emphasized the belief that quality of life begins with quality media regulation and that building a responsible media environment is a direct investment in people and society.
The Council's participation will also highlight the Advertiser Permit, which organizes advertising by content creators on social media according to clear standards. The UAE Media Council empowers creators through clear, flexible rules, notably the Advertiser Permit for social platforms, supporting meaningful content and enhancing transparency in digital advertising. These measures aim to advance digital quality of life and position media as an active partner in societal awareness and government communication.
The Council also plans to pursue cooperation agreements during the forum, with memorandum-of-understanding signings aimed at expanding creator training, standards literacy, and measurement across the ecosystem. In line with the forum's focus on food security, public health, education, environmental sustainability, and the green economy, the Council will demonstrate how transparent advertising rules and practical content standards can improve public trust in health and nutrition messages, support media literacy, and encourage purposeful storytelling that benefits daily life.
At the Council's interactive pavilion, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about digital advertising standards and explore practical content guidelines. They can also register interest in the Advertiser Permit through an on-site explainer and a short interactive awareness activity. Prospective partners will be able to discuss collaboration opportunities and register their interest with the Council team. This reflects the UAEMC's mission to make media a tool for empowerment and positive audience engagement, supporting quality of life and the UAE's Year of Community 2025 objectives.
IGCF 2025 will bring together global leaders and experts to explore how strategic communication can advance quality of life, focusing on five priorities: food security, public health, education, environmental sustainability, and the green economy. Through keynotes, panels, and workshops, the forum will highlight practical solutions and global experiences that strengthen communication between governments and communities, enhancing quality of life worldwide.
