UAE Research Programme Highlights Rain Enhancement Efforts at World Meteorological Conference in India

Pune: The UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) took part in the 11th World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Conference from 2nd to 7th November 2025 at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune, India. The conference brought together international experts to discuss advancements in weather modification and new technologies.

According to Emirates News Agency, Alya Al Mazrouei, the UAEREP Director, delivered a presentation on 'Precipitation enhancement studies in deep convective clouds.' She outlined the programme's research activities, achievements, and future plans. Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, the WMO President and NCM Director-General, stated that the UAE's involvement demonstrates its continued commitment to weather modification and global climate resilience.

Al Mazrouei emphasized that the conference served as a significant platform for sharing UAEREP's experience in precipitation enhancement, which is grounded in extensive research and collaboration over the years.

UAEREP's delegation engaged with senior representatives from prominent meteorological institutions and universities. These included Dr. Suryachandra A. Rao from the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra from the India Meteorological Department, Dr. Xiaofeng Luo from Central China Normal University, Dr. Satyanarayana Tani from Graz University of Technology, and Dr. Alan Gadian from the University of Leeds.

The 11th WMO Conference concentrated on recent developments in weather modification. It covered topics such as observational studies, cloud physics research, numerical modeling, verification methods, and new seeding technologies.
