UAE Showcases Energy Transition Initiatives at 7th BRICS Youth Energy Summit

Brasilia: A UAE delegation, spearheaded by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, took an active role in the 7th BRICS Youth Energy Summit, hosted by Brazil. The event featured youth delegations comprised of experts and professionals from BRICS member states and invited countries. According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE delegation included representatives from key national entities in the energy sector, such as the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Federal Youth Authority, Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), and the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA). This participation was part of the UAE's efforts to foster international cooperation, empower youth, and demonstrate leadership in energy transition. It aligns with goal 7 of the Sustainable Development Goals, targeting access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. The UAE delegation contributed as a keynote speaker in the panel discussion titled 'Technologi cal Advancements for Low-Carbon Power Systems.' They highlighted the country's progress in developing smart and resilient energy systems based on low-carbon fuels, including clean hydrogen, solar energy, and sustainable aviation fuel. The delegation also showcased the UAE's national policies and initiatives, including the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050. Furthermore, the delegation emphasized the UAE's commitment to implementing the outcomes of the UAE Consensus, launched during its presidency of COP28. This initiative calls for a transition away from fossil fuels, the expansion of renewable energy technologies, and the achievement of climate neutrality by 2050. The delegation underlined the importance of investing in technology, innovation, building national capacities, and empowering youth to lead the global shift toward low-emission energy systems. Emirati success stories in clean energy and research and development were also presented, serving as models for BRICS countri es and the global community. At the summit's conclusion, the UAE delegation reaffirmed the country's commitment to strengthening cooperation with international partners within the BRICS group to build a more secure, sustainable, and inclusive energy future for future generations.
