‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’ Campaign Concludes with AED190 Million and 6000 Tonnes of Aid

Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, Chairman of the International Philanthropic and Humanitarian Council, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Erth Zayed Philanthropies, announced the successful conclusion of the 'UAE stands with Lebanon' campaign. The initiative collected nearly AED190 million and 6,000 tonnes of relief materials, reflecting the UAE's commitment to humanitarian efforts.

According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign, initiated by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ran from early October last year until January 6. The effort aimed to support Lebanon's recovery from a humanitarian crisis, including assistance for people displaced to Syria. The campaign was actively monitored by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who ensured the aid was delivered through various Emirati humanitarian institutions under the guidance of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed expressed gratitude to all segments of the UAE community for their generous contributions. He highlighted the UAE's tradition of showing solidarity with people in distress worldwide, transcending race, creed, political and ideological orientations. The UAE initially allocated US$100 million for urgent relief, with an additional US$30 million designated for Lebanese displaced to Syria.

The campaign saw the dispatch of 22 planes and two ships loaded with essential supplies, coordinated with Lebanese and international authorities such as the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

A total of 23 Emirati humanitarian institutions participated in collecting relief aid across the country's emirates. These included prominent organizations like the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, among others, demonstrating a nationwide effort to support Lebanon in its time of need.
