Abu Dhabi: The AJP Tour UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025 - GI will commence tomorrow at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi, featuring 1,455 male and female athletes from 86 academies across 77 countries.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP) and supported by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Scheduled for three days from 20th to 22nd June, the championship is a significant event in the jiu-jitsu sports calendar, promoting competition across various age categories and offering athletes the opportunity to earn crucial ranking points towards the official AJP world rankings.
The tournament will showcase a lineup of elite international jiu-jitsu athletes, including Brazil's Bruno Borges, Jefferson Gouto, and Gabriela Pereira, and Russia's Anna Remeneva, along with emerging talents from different divisions. The championship will begin on Friday with the Masters division for both men and women, continue on Saturday with the Kids and Youth divisions, and conclude on Sunday with the Amateurs and Professionals categories, promising high levels of excitement and competition.
AJP has confirmed that the championship is part of its globally recognised tournament series, with gold medalists earning 1,000 ranking points to enhance their standings in the rankings, qualifying them for major events. Rodrigo Valerio, Operations Director at AJP, stated, "AJP Tour UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025 - GI is one of the key stops in the AJP season. In collaboration with the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, AJP continues to deliver professional event organisation, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's status as a global hub for jiu-jitsu and facilitating the identification and development of promising talents, particularly among youth and junior divisions.
The organising committee highlighted that this year's edition marks the highest participation rate since the championship's inception, underscoring the increasing international confidence in tournaments hosted in the UAE and the exceptional organisational readiness of Abu Dhabi's sports events.
