Sharjah: In a step highlighting the UAE's role on the global investment stage, the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah), in collaboration with the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) and the UAE Ministry of Investment, announced the 29th edition of the World Investment Conference (WIC).
According to Emirates News Agency, the conference, making its debut in Sharjah, will align with the Sharjah Investment Forum (SIF) and take place from October 22 to 24 at Expo Centre Sharjah. This international collaboration was formalized through a 'Host Agreement' witnessed by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, and Dr. James Zhan, Chairman of the Executive Board of the World Investment Conference.
Signatories of the agreement included Mohammad AbdulRahman Alhawi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Investment; Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of Invest in Sharjah; and Ismail Ersahin, Executive Director and CEO of WAIPA. Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi commented on the event's strategic importance, stating that hosting WIC in Sharjah highlights the emirate's status as a leading destination for responsible investment and its readiness to foster global discussions on capital direction towards development goals.
The timing of the 29th WIC in Sharjah is significant as it coincides with WAIPA's 30th anniversary, adding a commemorative element to the event. This milestone underscores three decades of advancing global investment and the pivotal role of investment promotion agencies in shaping economic landscapes.
Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi emphasized the UAE's commitment to global investment, noting that the conference in Sharjah reflects ambitions to deepen partnerships and drive sustainable economic growth. Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh highlighted that hosting global investment institutions in Sharjah opens opportunities for local and regional businesses, enhancing access to cross-border partnerships.
Ismail Ersahin remarked on WAIPA's role in bridging nations, ideas, and capital for lasting impact, expressing pride in bringing the conference to Sharjah. Dr. James Zhan highlighted the strategic timing and location of the conference, reinforcing Sharjah's position as a key destination for foreign direct investment.
