Rio de janeiro: TRENDS Research and Advisory took part as a Research Partner in the 6th International Conference - Spiritual Silk Road: The Role of Moral Values in Bridging Nations and Continents.
According to Emirates News Agency, the conference was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 4th to 5th September, featuring scholars, thinkers, and religious leaders from around the world. Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, CEO of TRENDS, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the conference's significance as a platform for dialogue among diverse cultures and religions, and for discussing religious developments.
Dr. Al Ali highlighted that all religions advocate for coexistence and tolerance among their followers and across different sects, religions, and ethnic groups. He noted that religions uphold human dignity, the right to be different, and the need for justice and mercy for all individuals, without discrimination. Historically, pluralism has enriched civilizations by fostering inclusivity rather than division.
He further explained that extremism and radicalisation represent major societal challenges. The issues stem not from religious teachings themselves, but from individuals who misinterpret tolerant religious values through extremist ideologies that diverge from the true purposes of religion.
TRENDS also engaged in the conference's accompanying exhibition, showcasing a range of its prominent research and publications. The research team conducted discussions with leading figures and thinkers to bolster research cooperation and partnerships aimed at supporting global intellectual dialogue.
